Question 1

How long before you are feeling normal after EGD surgery?

Accepted Answer

The recovery time after an EGD (Esophagogastroduodenoscopy) is relatively short. Most individuals can expect to feel normal within a few hours after the procedure. The sedative effects may linger for a brief period, so some rest is advisable on the day of the EGD. Any discomfort, such as a mild sore throat, is typically temporary and resolves within a day or two. Patients can generally resume their normal activities and diet as tolerated shortly after the procedure.

Question 2

How often do you need an EGD with GERD?

Accepted Answer

The frequency of needing an EGD (esophagogastroduodenoscopy) for GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease) varies depending on individual circumstances. In general, patients with uncomplicated GERD may not require frequent EGDs unless there are specific symptoms or concerns. However, if there are complications or persistent symptoms despite treatment, a repeat EGD may be recommended. It is important to consult with a healthcare professional to determine the appropriate frequency of EGD for GERD management.
